I love to Coupon...except when I get SCREWED

So like most other TLC loving mama's I have really gotten into that show "Extreme Couponing."  I aspire to be an extreme couponer and have ass loads of ketchup that I will never ever use.  Why?  I have no clue other than I like the idea of free, and I really like the challenge of finding the deals.

So the past 5 months I have been honing my couponing skills and for the most part I am doing pretty well saving my family about $100.00 to $200.00 a month on groceries just from my skills.  I still spend $300.00 in the month, but we only eat out 1x a week and the other 6 nights the hubby and I cook pretty nutritious meals.  I should throw in here that we have also been able to save money because my awesome garden grew tomatoes, carrots, onions, peas, watermelon, cantaloupes, cucumbers and bell peppers.  The garden only cost about $8.00 to plant and we had fresh fruit and veggies for 3.5 months from it, I have really considered getting a greenhouse and having a garden year round because of that.  Next year I am planting potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, Japanese cucumbers, onions, cilantro, squash, mini watermelon, corn, pumpkins and peas!  Oh I already cannot wait!  Regardless I still plan to keep my grocery bill within $300.00 per month and after tonight I only have $225.00 left to spend...eeek!

Okay enough with the gardening, let's talk about why I am blogging.  Tonight I got screwed over...2x.  1st I read the ad incorrectly and ended up purchasing the wrong size diapers only to find out that I couldn't qualify for the deal and they didn't have the right size diapers in the stock room.  So that one was my dumb fault.  However I also purchased 3 delicious smelling Air Wick candles which, with my 2 great coupons would have only made the candles 0.86 however instead the coupons were not removed and I paid 8.37 for them!  Tomorrow I am going to fix the wrong size diaper issue and the air wick problem.  Both of which are most likely because I am a dumb ass, but what the heck, I am willing to look like a fool to save 5.00.

PS:  Targets online coupons have a deal for $1.00 off a pancake mix and the mix is only $0.99!  #FREE

Happy Shopping!

  1. OMG you totally gotta teach me how to coupon!! I spend $400-$500 a month on groceries and you can totally tell its hurting the fundage.

  2. 1. Couponmom.com seriously helps with the coupon matchups so you know when to use your coupons. Also getting the circulars (coupons in the newspapers) is a HUGE help!

    2. Update! I went back to Target, exchanged the diapers for the correct size, although I didn't save anymore cash there. I also fixed the airwick candle situation and was refunded 6.50 which made the three wonderful smelling candles only 0.90 each! So awesome
