Why My Kid Is Funny

Ugh...I really need to blog more!  If I could blog 3x a week I would, but I just don't have the time with all the funny stuff that Eyan is doing and saying lately.  I tell you what, this kid is smart and funny and I wish I would buckle down and buy a fancy camcorder or new cell phone so I could get more of his hysterical antics on video.  Until then you will just have to take my word for it and look at some pictures of my funny kid!

This first picture, Eyan was just being his silly self and saying all sorts of funny words, like, "Mia...stinky," "EyanNo," "Baby Butt," and other equally silly stuff.  He is getting particularly great at repeating words.  The worst of those would be "Bullshit"  (courtesy of his father making a joke in a funny voice), and "Vodka" (My mom's way of trying to explain to Eyan that he cannot have her drink).

Just a cute smile...nice mosquito bite in the middle of his forehead though
The night before I took this picture Jason and I had a great dinner with his family.  Eyan was in rare form and apparently pretty accident prone that evening and managed to fall, lip first onto the floor and then grab a hot fajita plate.  I know that "Mother of the Year" award is coming real soon!.  Picture 2 is supposed to highlight his 1st fat lip, it was good one and he took it like a trooper!  Best part about the whole incident is that I was in the middle of telling Jason's family how we are trying to make him a Big Strong Boy and we are not making a huge deal out of the many falls, bumps and bruises that every toddler manages to organize in a single day.

So much for the big strong boy idea...this baby needed mommy to cuddle him through the pain and I did!

Lately we have been trying to celebrate when Eyan does good things, like picks up his toys, or gives the puppies hugs or throws his dirty diaper into the bin (he loves to do this!)  It used to be a high-five with some kisses and hugs to celebrate.  Now-a-days we have added an additional little celebration.  We tell him "pound it" or "Knuckles" and he reaches out and goes for it!  So much fun and so silly!

Pound It!!!
My awesome neighbor and I decided to have a garage sale.  My initial thought was to sell doughnuts, coffee and lemonade to the passerby's through the day, but then I decided my chunky butt needed to eat the doughnuts so instead I kept the dozen I purchased.  Day 2 of the garage sale, people showed up an hour earlier than advertised.  I didn't have time to make breakfast for Eyan so instead I decided to give him a chocolate doughnut.  My kid grubbed that up, even his shirt ate some!  I just love the messy face picture!  So Funny!
You see...I just had to eat the doughnut
The garage sale proved to be hot!  Eyan and the neighbor ladies kids enjoyed some time swimming in the pool.  Eyan is a water dog and loves bath time, puddles, swimming, washing his hands, playing in the dog bowls...well you get the idea.  Eyan Loves Water!

Mommy can I get in?

What is in the bucket?  Water!

Filling the bucket up with more water

I told you my kid LOVES water.  This is something I need to be keenly aware of as he is bound to be that little baby that decides to walk into the deep end of the pool when no one is paying attention.  NOT ON MY WATCH!  Regardless squirt bottles have become a new favorite.  This picture is Eyan spraying himself in the face with water.  He did this for a good 5 minutes, before I decided to end the fun and put him in drier clothes.
What happens if I press this?  WATER!!!!

So far I would have to say that 15 months is the funnest age.  Eyan has such a personality and is just booming with silly explorations.  I enjoy all this time I get to spend with him.  The summer is coming to an end way to soon.

What silly things did your kids do that make you laugh?

Last year for my birthday all I wanted was some trees for the backyard.  Jason and I hit a sale at a local farm and scored 3 beautiful trees, a maple, ash and aspen.  I loved them.   We placed the two larger trees in the corners and the aspen in the center of our back yard.  Fall and winter hit and at some point my puppy took a liking to the maple and the poor little tree died.  Luckily our tree supplier offered a rebate on a new tree if yours died in the 1st year.  So in June Jason and I took off and picked up another tree.  We went for another ash because we loved the size of the other one and the leaves are pretty.  Instead of planting it in the corner where the maple was we decided to plant it straight in the middle of our lawn so we would have more shade on our house and less fights with the neighbor.  6 days later I woke up to find that the top of my tree completely broke off.  I was very upset.  I immediately placed a call to our tree supplier and explained to them that I was not going to take the partial rebate and that I wanted a free tree because there had to be a defect in the tree for it to just snap off like that.  In closer examination we realized that there was a notch in the main trunk that created a weak spot.  The tree farmer looked at the pictures I took and quickly offered to replace the tree.  We were so grateful and excited and impressed with the customer service.

Anyhow, I wasn't really writing to give you a whole saga about my trees.  Instead I am writing about how much Eyan loves to water the trees and how darn cute he has been!

Ready to do some yard work!

Now for the best part of this!  My kid decided to run through the sprinklers.  I forgot the camera the first couple times he actually went through them, but I managed to get this cute video!  It is sideways because I am a dork and the volume is super loud, so turn down my squeaky voice, but enjoy my silly baby

Looking at that adorable little boy makes all the tough stuff my family has been dealing with a little easier.  I have eluded to the fact that a very close family friend has been ill.  This family friend is so close I call her my aunt.  Well last Saturday she lost her battle with cancer and the world lost a truly amazing women.  A couple months earlier she was in remission.  Curve balls are always there and life is tough so please remember to cherish those little moments with those you love.

The Last Week!

The last week has been extremely busy for my family!  Busy in a good way though.  Check out the updates below!

Our 3rd Anniversary Mini-Vacation
June 28th was my husband and I's wedding anniversary and also marked 10 years of us being a couple.  We usually celebrate our anniversary by having a quick get-away to some place close to Denver.  This year we only had one night because Jason had to work, so we celebrated by heading up to my awesome aunt's condo in Keystone.  We mainly just hung out and swam, but we had a great time doing it!
Eyan getting ready to climb the stairs at the condo
Going for a evening stroll along the river

The River was seriously raging, but the sound was amazing!  Loved our walk!
Eyan just floating around in the pool!  He LOVES Swimming!

The New Play Set!
A few weeks back I was able to score an awesome Little Tikes Swing and Slide Castle off Craigslist!  I had been looking for one for about a month and was SUPER excited when I found this one!  Eyan has played on it a lot, but I only got around to taking pictures of him playing last week.  He really enjoyed trying to get out of the swing on his own, but normally ended up falling down and then playing in the rocks.  Check out that perfect Ninja!

Y3W--"Ready to Play"

Y3W stands for "Your 3 Words" and is something I am *borrowing* from my friend Censie over at Building Our Story!  Go check her blog out!  She does an awesome job and her son is freaking perfect!

Anyway how it works is you take a picture and add a 3 word caption.  This weeks Y3W is Eyan in his adorable basketball outfit!

4th of July

This was Eyan's second 4th of July and he just loved it.  I totally forgot the camera for part 1 of the day, but got some cute snapshots of part 2!

Part 1 of the day consisted of Jason waking up and making breakfast for the family and then us packing up and heading to the lake.  Eyan being the little water worm he is, was in the lake every chance he got, just floating around and playing in the sand.  I so wish I would have remembered the camera...mom of the year strikes again!

Part 2 of the day consisted of visiting various friends and watching the fireworks.  We watched the "big" show at my best friend Stacey's parents house and Eyan was enthralled with the lights and big booms!  He then delighted Stacey's family by playing the hat game and rattling off about 30 different words and phrases.  Always the showman.  Anyway here are some pictures...I could have done better, but I sucked.

My sis, Stacey and Eyan watching the show...ok just Stacey and Eyan :)

The Fireworks!

Well a lot more went on last week, I went with my Aunt Jerica on her venue walk through (the wedding is going to be so amazing!)  Our awesome neighbors invited us to their little guys 2nd birthday and we had a blast.  The had part of it at this new little water park in town and it was pretty fun and then they cooked some amazing food (as always) and lit fireworks for little dude.  Some sad stuff is happening right now, but I am just not feeling compelled to write about it.  Just send prayers our way!

Have a great week!
