I should really be grading

No that is the truth, I should really be grading.  This year I have been on top of my grading and for the first time in the school year I am behind.  There is no better reason than that Eyan is teething and those darn canines need to just break through already OH...and I finally took the pacifier away.  So the point I am getting to is that I am tired.

The past few days have been especially rough.  Let's be clear on something, Eyan HAS NOT had a pacifier during the day since he stopped nursing at 10 months.  The paci only makes its appearance at bed and nap time because Eyan is a light sleeper and he could find it and put it in his mouth and allow mommy to sleep more than 2 hour stretches.  Eyan started really sleeping through the night about 3 months ago, which was a miracle and I fully believe the paci helped this.  However, with the paci "missing" he is waking up a little more frequently and little earlier.  UGH, the price you pay for bad habits to go away and hopefully a smaller orthodontist bill.

The "missing" paci happened by accident, I didn't do this on purpose and had originally planned to do the whole "pacifiers to the new babies in the world thing" over my Christmas break.  Monday, Eyan woke up with the paci in his mouth and my mom got him ready to go to Jen's, and the paci accidently went with them.  I only have two of them, and knew right away this had happened, but I forgot about it and once Monday night came I put Eyan in his bed and forgot to put the back-up paci in the bed.  That night and the next night went well.  After those blissful nights, Eyan realized the paci was gone, and all hell broke loose!  He has been up a few times a night and just grumpy and on top of it those dang teeth are just driving him insane.

Well regardless, I managed to get some really cute pictures of him this weekend!  I took these with a canon point and shoot and I am pretty excited about them.  I personally think they look kind of professional and I am totally framing some of these!

The pacifier has been gone for a few weeks now and little monster is sleeping better!  Success!

iPhone Days 4-6

I will try to make this short.  I have been to the Sprint store 2x regarding my beautiful iPhone.  The first was because the phone completely malfunctioned (mentioned earlier), the second was due to the phone not properly downloading an update and deciding to not unlock properly.  That was an easy fix for the store and a perfect way to remind me that I am not as technologically savvy as I had previously expected.

I am still thrilled with my phone and aside from my two trips to the Sprint store, things have been decent.

One little con for us would be that it has taken between 25 and 30 minutes to get a representative on phone to help, but once we do, they are extremely helpful!

Have a nice day

iPhone day 2 & 3

Ugh...Yesterday's iPhone experience sucked!  Once our numbers ported over, my iphone no longer worked and Sprint and Apple deemed it "defective."  So back to the Sprint store I went, and an hour later all my 653 contacts were ported and the phone was FINALLY working correctly.  I should let you know that prior to yesterday, the phone worked but I didn't have my old number, so we had them ported from Tmobile.

Did you read the portion where I had 653 contacts?  Ummm, yeah herein lies the next portion of sucksville.  Prior to owning the wonderful iPhone, Jason and I had the G1 google phone so all of our contacts were saved on our gmail accounts.  This includes ALL of the email addresses you have ever emailed!  So when they ported my number, over came not only my friends and family's numbers but every single derby girl, professor, friend, craigslist add and God knows who else's email addresses.  So I have spent more than 3 hours going through 1 by 1 and deleting these wonderful contacts.  The salesman at the store said that I could just plug the phone into iTunes and edit it from there, however, on the 3 computers I tried that on, it didn't even work on one.  I spent another 2 hours trying this and rearranging all my contacts on my email into groups.  Such a HUGE waste of time.

So that pretty much caps my experience with the iPhone 4 yesterday.  Below is a picture of my beautiful phone!

So let's move onto today!  Today was awesome, the phone works wonderfully and I have found some awesome apps on the store!  I spent a portion of today taking videos of Eyan and pictures of Eyan and just super enjoying the awesome features of this phone!

Features I LOVE:
  • The camera (8 mpx with a flash and edit!)
  • The speed (moves from app to app in a split second!)
  • The weight
  • The APPS! (More on that in a second)
One of the features I just love which I had on the android market, but is much more in depth and faster on the iPhone, is the app store.  I have found so many great kid apps on this!  My favorites have been the Fisher-Price apps!  Eyan loves these!  They are basically interactive flash cars that go over animal sounds, names and numbers and even body parts!  My kid knows a lot of these, so for him it was fun to say the words and the sounds and count and point to his body parts with these three apps!  I definitely recommend these apps to any parents!

The camera/video camera clarity is amazing!  I posted a video of Eyan and the toy that I loath the most in our house on Facebook.  Follow the link as I cannot embed the video on her for some reason.

So as of today I still like my iPhone.  I have until October 28th to return it for a full refund and exchange it for another phone/cancel my service.  I will try to come up with some "cons" on this phone as I know many people are on the fence about switching.

So Jason and I have been seriously considering switching wireless providers for a few months now. Our contract was ending with tmobile and we were looking for a good wireless provider with fairly reasonable prices and good coverage. I really wanted an iphone and that left us with two carriers, Verizon and AT&T. Verizon was a bit overpriced and I had bad experiences with At&T years back. We both liked sprint and the customer service sounded good, coverage was good and prices were perfect...except the didnt have the iphone so we decided to wait a little longer. Imagine our surprise when Apple announced the iPhone 4s would be carried on Sprints network! Jason and I researched and were exstatic to get the iPhones on sprints UNLIMITED data plans! So off we went today to save $50.00 on our wireless bill and have even more awesome phones than our G1's! I wanted the iPhone 4s, but the were sold out weeks earlier, the iPhone 4 was in stock and so Jason and I grabbed them up! Less than $300.00 for two iPhones and car chargers! So here I am blogging from my new iPhone and deciding if I truly love this phone or if I will need to get a phone with a full qwerty keyboard. (on a side note I just realized why it's called a qwerty keyboard...duh!) as always I will keep you updated on this! I am already surprised at how well I can type on this! Just got to figure out the " two handed" typing instead of this " bird pecking" I am currently doing. Do you have an iPhone? What are your favorite features?

Here I sit, 8 weeks into the school year and I am refreshed, happy, enlightened and enthusiastic.  I have been reaffirmed that I am a great teacher and a great asset to my school and other than some lunatic chemistry kiddos yesterday, things have been going great!

I desperately miss the camaraderie from my former colleagues.  I try to make an ernest attempt at staying in touch with them and holding our friendships together, but we are all very busy and I can quickly see our friendships slipping away.  This makes me truly sad.

Otherwise, Eyan has a terrible diaper rash.  Like the worst diaper rash I have ever seen in my entire life.  This kept both him and I up all night so I am pretty much crap for a teacher today.  Hopefully tonight goes better and the cream begins to help.  If not, it is off to the pediatrician we go.

Poor little Ninja!
