TAT: A boy and his dogs

Eyan and "the girls" as he calls them have been connected from birth.  Mia has especially been very protective over her baby since we brought him home.  She stays relatively close to him and watches over him.  When its nap time or bed time she goes up and sleeps next to his bedroom door.  Lily on the other hand deals with Eyan being crazy, but is the first to lay down in the middle of his toys and wait for him to lay on top of him and snuggle.  Although I highly discourage this, I do think the pup loves this snuggle time.

I couldn't find pictures of them that were fantastic, but here are a couple that totally work!

I'm still here

Hey my beautiful readers!

I am still around.  This week I am in AP (Advanced Placement) training and learning a whole lot about some awesome things!  However, this means that I am spending less time having a grand time with my family and more time focused on work.  So basically I have no pictures and I am exhausted from going back to work.  I will be back to blogging full time in a week (at least that is my plan!)

Thanks for sticking around as I have kind of been on hiatus.

Some prayers

Would be graciously appreciated right now. Any positive thoughts and good karma you are willing to spare, I am willing to accept.

Thanks,

TAT: Teaching Rocks

Todays topic for Toddle Along Tuesday is your job.

Well next to being a mom, I think teaching is pretty darn awesome!  It allows me to get out of the house, and share stories, cool facts, build relationships, shape the youth and network like crazy.

I didn't really ever aspire to be a teacher.  After I got done with high school I majored in dental hygiene and after a brief stint in a dental office observing and helping the hygienist, I decided that I would rather become the dentist than the hygienist and there was no way in heck I was going to dental school.  So I finished my associates degree and was unsure of my path.  At this point I was coaching high school cheerleading and was helping one of my girls organize a persuasive paper.  I was doing this a teachers classroom and that teacher just happened to be watching me teach my cheerleader how to write this paper.  Once we got done, the teacher came over to me and said, "I just watched 6 other teachers try to teach that process and you did the best out of everyone!"  She told me that I should become a teacher and so I did.  Best advice I EVER got.

I love my job and I am FANTASTIC at my job.  I teach high school science.  Mainly 9th grade biology and 11/12 Environmental Science (soon to be an AP offering!!!)  Next week I will be at the Cherry Creek AP Institute and I am so excited.  School starts in about 3 weeks and although I love every moment I have with Eyan, I am ready to get back into the classroom.

Yay for teaching!

When you're the best of friends

Sharing all that you discover! Oh I love that old Disney song! It rings so true to Eyan and his cousin Caleb. As of late we have been taking the boys swimming and they always have a fantastic time! I'm always in the pool so it's a rarity that I take pictures, but I do have a couple to share.

Happy Monday!

5laughs short version

I'm keeping this short as I am completely broken after the Aurora shooting.

Eyan has been running around the house pretending to be Buzz Lightyear saying, "to infinity and beyond!"

Love him

Shooting

As I am sure, all of my readers have heard of the tragedy that happened at the movie theater in Aurora. I am angry that this could even happen! I can't stop thinking about this and the terror that those people must have felt. No one goes to the movies expecting to be killed, and those kids! For Gods sake there were children in there! Nothing is going to make them feel safe after witnessing true evil. An old friend from high school was in that theater with her 3 children and her husband, they all got out safe and I am so thankful for that, but I feel for her and the questions and dreams that she will be filtering through over the next several years. What a strong family they are.

I also read an article that the shooters mother knew it was her son without a doubt! Really! You knew your son was an unstable psychopath and you chose to keep that to yourself! Parenting is important regardless of age...make sure you continue to do this even after your children are grown.

My mind is a mess, and my heart is broken for those families enduring this tragedy. Keep praying!

Potty Training Fail

I was told it would happen, I was naive.

Eyan has kind of regressed here in the last two days of potty training.  He is getting too busy playing and mommy and daddy are not just taking him to the bathroom when we think he needs to go, so we have had 3 accidents in 2 days!  We went from 0 accidents to 3!  I feel like a potty training failure as a parent.  Don't get me wrong, he does have successes most of the day.  However, the problem is that both Jason and I ask Eyan if he needs to go potty and he tells us NO then about 5 minutes later he goes...on my furniture (that I just had cleaned!), on my carpet oh and my favorite...on me.  Yeah I am over it.

So potty training mommies, how did you deal with the regression, because I might just lose my mind if we cannot get him to potty in the potty every time again.

All you need is love...

...Because how could you not love this! This boy has my heart. The other day I fell asleep on the couch and Eyan snuggled right up next to me and slept for 3 hours on our couch! What a cutie!

Top 5

For Saturdays Top 5 Laughs, hosted by The Mommyhood Chronicles.

3. Person 1: how's your kids? Person 2: I don't have any.

2. Do you see that old skinny guy stealing our food? This is his 2nd plate! Later that night, skinny guy says to his friends: man I was grubbing all over that buffet till I got caught.

Thursday Thoughts

I have a TON on my mind, but not a whole lot I feel like I can write about. That is entirely too frustrating. Let's just say, life is full of unexpected moments, meant to change your direction...and hopefully for the better.

My dogs are driving me nutso! Being cooped up at home with them, listening to them randomly bark at kids playing outside while both the hubby and kid sleep is annoying. Incontinence is annoying! The fact that I have to tell them 200 times a day to get off the furniture is annoying. I love them to pieces, but I'm starting to wonder if the reason I have to be a working mom is because of these 2 monsters?

I'm bored! I feel like everything I want to do, just to get Eyan and I out of the house for fun, costs an arm and a leg and I'm too cheap to pay that price , plus my mani and pedi are too dang cute.

I need me time. Like a whole week without responsibilities. A real vacation. I had a great dream last night that we finally got our passports and took off to the beach somewhere. I guess a girl can dream right?

Ehh, Thursday, why do you gotta be so provocative.

Rainy Day Zoo Trip

Oh the weather outside was delightful! After a very long time of temperatures in the 100's, rain was more than welcome...especially warm rain! I woke up Monday morning and on a whim decided to call up my mother and see if she wanted to head up to the zoo to see the new Toyota Elephant Passage exhibit! The zoo has been creating this new enclosure for a couple years and I have been eagerly awaiting it's opening. So off on a rainy Monday we went and had a pretty good time in our ponchos watching the animals!

(my iPhone picture taking skills are getting amazing...lol)

Happy Wednesday!

Enjoy Eyan and his cousins playing in the pool!

Time Out

Yeah it's sort of a big deal! Lately my wonderful son has been spending several minutes a day in the corner of our house.

Offenses have included, hitting, biting the dogs, head butting, not following simple directions and throwing toys out of anger.

The latest offense occurred when Eyan proceeded to empty out an entire bag of blocks and then proceeded to drive over them with his ATV. After that he emptied out another toy box and left everything out. I asked him to clean up just the blocks and he refused, threw a block at me and quickly earned himself some time in the corner.

After his measly 20 seconds in the corner, he came and picked up said blocks then hugged his mama. I love my little time out boy!

ST5L-In Pictures

Linking up with The Mommyhood Chronicles to rock out my laughs of the week. It was a tantrum filled week, so there wasn't a ton of laughs, but I caught a couple in picture form.

Picture 1- Eyan decided he needed to wear these sweet ear things that squished his chubby little face during the fireworks! Too cute!

Picture 2- As of late Eyan has taken to driving one of his trucks on Lily when she is laying down. Turns out the pup likes this and tends to fall asleep during the truck massage.

That's all folks!

Fort Fun

On Tuesday my family and I got together and went to this cute little place called Fort Fun in Ft. Collins Colorado. Eyan just loves hanging out with his cousins and trying all the new things.

Putt putt golf was not very fun to Eyan and he finally decided that chasing his cousin was way more fun then golf.

After golf, we decided to go on one of those giant slides that you have to ride in a burlap sack on. I took Eyan down once and he loved it...I however did not. My cousin took him the next time, that boy has no fear. From the slide we went on the go carts and this was by far Eyans favorite thing. Him and his daddy drove so well...even though he couldn't see over the steering wheel. We also played in the jump castle and won some tickets on the redemption games!

Overall it was a fantastic day with family!

Our 4th of July

We had a ton of fun! First we spent the majority of the day hanging around the house and taking a good solid nap. In the afternoon we went to our lake and Eyan had a blast! He swam in the lake, jumped on the water trampoline and drove the boat!

After the lake we headed over to my best friends house for some amazing fireworks seats and delicious food. I ate my weight in edamame, cherrys, shrimp and some delicious cheese ball.

The fireworks were fantastic and Eyans squeals of joy and excitement made everyone laugh. Happy independence day!

Fishing

Jason and I decided to attempt to take Eyan fishing. Let's just say it was hot, the fish weren't biting and we forgot our chairs. Got some cute pictures though!
