Rant On

I am not sure what is going through my mind lately.  I am struggling with a lot of stuff that really amounts to nothing as a whole.

I have been seriously trying to weigh the pros and cons of social media...aka my serious addiction.  I find myself nursing Emberlynn and checking FB, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter soooo frequently.  Usually I do this so as not to overstimulate her while I am trying to put her to sleep, but then I wonder "does this seem like I am not making her my number 1 priority?"  When she is awake and alert I am fully attentive, playing, taking millions of photos, and just being present.  Same goes for Eyan.  I am sure it seems as though I am on FB ALL.THE.TIME. according to that stupid online green dot in the chat window, but truthfully I am not actually on it.  Most of the time I leave the app open on my phone (like completely open, not background open) because well, I just do not close out apps really well, so whichever one I was on last is usually what is open when I unlock my screen after I have left my phone for 2 hours.  But I digress :)

I have all these social media platforms that I would say I am very active on.  I love love love looking at photos of my friends kids and lives and vacations.  I enjoy the articles that people post and catching up with my favorite bloggers.  It is my "me" time...but could I spend that time differently?  Do I really need to be that active?  Let's be honest here, the people that actually care about the inner workings of my life and are interested are you my awesome readers and followers!  However, without those platforms, many people miss the updates and miss the craziness that is our life...so I am stuck.  I love writing, I love having this virtual scrapbook of my life and my kids to reflect back on.  I have always said that I write for me, but with SO many people telling me that they always read my blog when I post it on FB I feel obligated to continue to keep up my FB.

In all honesty I have been on FB for over 10 years now...10 freaking years!  I was on FB when you had to be a college student at one of those "select few" schools.  It has been great to catch up with people, keep up with people and check in with people when life is insane.  My friends on FB are my friends in real life.  For a while there that was not the actual case...almost 700 "friends" proved that.

Sometimes I feel like I am exploiting my kids.  I just am a bragger in all truth.  I love to show off my kids, their accomplishments, my failures as a parent, our struggles and in doing that I feel like I sometimes exploit them.  I hate that about social media and I have become a security freak due to this.  Eyan and Emberlynn are always close to me because I am very fearful that some super creep that follows me and knows my kids is going to steal them...BTW if this happens I would never ever forgive myself and I would probably go off the deep end and end it all.

So where am I going with all of this...who actually knows.  I think I have found that occasionally I need to take a day or two away from my blog and all social media.  So I guess if the blog is boring for a few days or a week...assume I need a time out and will be back.  I can't live without it, but I need to learn not to center around it.

Happy Tuesday Peeps!  Rant Over :0)

12 years

Today marks 12 years of being with my one and only :).

12 years ago in early June, Jason and I met at a bowling alley and instantly connected.  2 weeks into talking on the phone (landline people!) the boy asked me to be his girlfriend.  Best.Decision.Ever.

Here we are 12 years, a house, some cars, a couple dogs and 2 amazingly perfect little humans to call our own.  It hasn't been an easy 12 years.  God knows we have been challenged more than most, but we've persevered and we are still one!

Friday marks our 5 year wedding anniversary and we are headed out on our annual anniversary trip!  Time to be just us again :)

Happy Anniversary week Jason!  Love love love you!

Laughs 6.22.13

Linking up with www.the-mommy hood-chronicals.com for Saturdays top 5 laughs of the week.

1.  Eyan now has an imagination...he also has a tshirt that looks like Buzz Lightyear...and an imaginary set of wings and a jet pack.  He pushed the printed buttons on his shirt and pretends to "blast off!"  So.Flippin.Cute

2. Emberlynn is getting to be quite the little Diva.  If someone is talking while she's eating she will cry.  If she is not getting attention from someone 24/7 she will cry.  If Eyan gets hurt, she will cry.  Oh the teenage years are going to be very dramatic.

3.  If you have children and we have a play date, Eyan will just start calling your kids his cousins...boom instant family.  I knew you all wanted to be a part of this chaos.

4. So I decided its time to go back to thongs after my pregnancy stint in granny panties... (don't judge...unless you're some thong ninja that can wear a gigantic pads with them, we've all been there...plus Victoria's Secret has no reason to be disrespected like that:).

5. Emberlynn farts like a man.  So loud and no shame.  She just smiles through it (and probably lifts a leg too).

Water Park Fun

So I have to admit that taking two little people out in public scares the hell out of me for soooo many reasons.  Emberlynn hates her carseat and gets so worked up she almost stops breathing sometimes (if you have any advice here that would be great).  That leads to her constantly needing to be held.  So I use my Moby...which depending on her mood, she may or may not tolerate.  So sometimes I have 2 free hands to wrangle Eyan, but most of the time I don't.  Oh and Eyan is getting into a fantastic "I'm not listening" stage, so he  jets off sometimes which scares the living heck out of me.

So back to the point.  One of my biggest fears is water with two babies.  How could I swim with both and keep them both safe.  Well today I just did it.  Why not, my neighbor invited us and I figured I had to try it sometime.

Thankful our local tiny water park is super kid friendly, offering life vests, and very attentive life guards as well as a great kid area.  Eyan had a blast and I think it was just the attention he needed!  Oh and Emberlynn slept almost the full 2 hours!

Quick 3 month stats

So I went to a breast feeding support group where I had the oldest baby by far but one of the smallest by size...little miss weighs in at a whopping 10.13lbs and is in the 9.53%...at 3 months.  I finally moved her to size one diapers for no other reason than I had some in her closet and didn't feel like running to the store.  She can and still does wear 90% of her newborn clothes.  Just a tiny peanut "growing at her own pace," according to the lactation consultant. Check out how large this newborn outfit is on her!

Today a nice lady came up to me and asked how old, so I told her...she then informed me that her 3 month old is 16lbs!  I'm sure 16lbs is average...but I still worry.  So those primordial dwarf children I used to wish for after watching Maury...yeah I'm glad that wish wasn't granted, since I'm a hot obsessive mess over this little girl and her weight gain.

Disneyland Part 2

Lets just jump into Part 2 because you and I both know this is a long post :)

Collage 1: Beach Day at Santa Monica Pier/Hanging with my best friend!
My oldest and best friend Jenny lives in California.  She used to babysit my sister and I when we were younger, and we got super close.  She moved to California and had 4 kids which I just adore and so when we came out to California she made the LONG drive from the central valley to the pier.  It was phenomenal hanging out with her and the kids.  In addition to that, my Dad had never been to the ocean.  He is clearly a burly biker man and the only time I have ever seen him in "shorts" (which were also jean and cut off) was when we were in Lake Powell and I was 16.  So his "beach attire" is totally fitting with what I would expect my dad to wear...guess you can get sand in places you don't want to if you dress like that.  I am not too interested in being eaten by a shark so I do NOT swim in the ocean.  I wade, but Jason has no fear and swam and swam and swam.  He is such a kid and I LOVE IT.  My mom came up to us after walking the beach for a bit and said she found someones silicon implant...which actually was a jellyfish.  Thankfully she did not get stung but my sister and I had a good laugh.  We didn't end up hanging out on the pier as it was so windy and Emberlynn was just not having it.  We ended the day eating at Bubba Gumps with Jen and the kids and then said our goodbyes.  Then I got the awesome experience of driving in LA traffic at rush hour...Hello 2 hour drive back to our hotel with motorcycles riding the lines and about 42 different highway exits to take.

Collage 2: Disneyland Day 4
OMG this day was HOT and busy.  I made sure to get some of the token photos with Walt Disney and the Castle done.  The kids would not take a photo together and I wasn't forcing that...everyone was sweaty, who wants to snuggle when your dripping wet.  We decided to hit up Fantasyland first and we rode every.single.ride in fantasyland (oh wait not the tea cups). We made sure to hit up "Its a Small World" and had fun looking for the Disney characters among the various countries.  We had a good lunch and a fantastic dinner at the Blue Bayou.  I am fairly certain we rode about 20 rides that day and walked the entire park.  I was very surprised at how much they would let us take Emberlynn on.  She rode Pirates of the Carribean, the Winnie the Pooh Ride, the carousel and pretty much every ride in Fantasyland.  They just told us to put her legs under the security bar or had a little strap for her...it was all safe and there were TONS of tiny babies there doing the same thing.  We ended this day walking the short distance to California Adventure and watching World of Color in complete awe.  Eyan crashed and missed the show, but I couldnt hardly blink it was that good!

Collage 3: Disney's California Adventure Day 5
Somehow on our epic fail as planners at this park the first time, we did manage to ride a bunch so we only had about 1/3 of the park to see.  We spent a good majority of that in Cars Land which was phenomenal.  It looks just like the movie, we ate at Flo's V8 cafe', Rode Luigis Flying Tires, did all the kiddie rides in its a Bugs Land, rode the tower of terror back to back, did the Muppet's and Bugs Life 3D shows and ate an excessive amount at the Starbucks (which has a fantastic Ruben and portabello soup!).  By far and one of the biggest reasons we chose Disneyland over DisneyWorld was the Radiator Springs Racers.  This is a ride similar to Test Track at Epcot, except about 40x better because it takes you through Radiator Springs and the story of Cars.  Eyan was not tall enough to ride this technically (39.5' with a 40' requirement) so we totally stuffed his shoes.  If this is something you plan on doing be aware that they measure you 3 different times through the ride, they will have them take their hats off and you need to make sure that you practice standing up tall without being on tiptoes.  I don't care what anyone says, it was totally worth it, it was not unsafe, he was secure and had a blast on the ride.  We had planned to walk across the way to watch the fireworks in the park at Disneyland, but decided to avoid the crowds as much as possible and found a nice spot in the courtyard to watch them (which also made escaping the crowds super easy)!

So there is our trip in photos.  We have already decided to go back in 3 years as long as we can afford it.  I am saving NOW, because seriously Eyan cannot stop talking about it and neither can we!

3 Months!

My tiny peanut is 3 months today.  Not sure on weight or height this month as we don't have a doctors appointment this month, but I might get her weighed at the lactation consultant tomorrow.  I think she is between 10 & 11 lbs maybe more!

Emberlynn is now smiling whenever she deems necessary but mostly just studies the world.  She hates to be put down and her car seat is the devil.  She adores her brother and likes the colors on the TV.  She is drooling like crazy and eats like a champ.  She basically sleeps through the night going to bed between 8-9 and sleeping until 3-4 eating quickly and back to sleep until 7:30-8.  Thank God because Eyan never slept and this mama needs energy to keep up with these kiddos!

Happy 3 months tiny peanut!

What are you doing today?

You know, splish splash, cousin time!

Bows Matter

I know not everyone is a huge bow fan.  I have heard the criticism and cynicism towards the large flowers and bows I choose to place on my tiny peanuts head, but  I love them.  Maybe it is the cheerleader in me, or maybe it is the fact that without one in the wrong outfit Emberlynn looks like a boy, but bows matter!  Just for fun I took a picture of Emberlynn with and without a bow.  You can clearly see that she prefers the bow as well.  I actually believe she does because she gets very smiley and coos a lot when we are deciding which bow to wear that day.

So naturally I had to show that bows really do matter!  Eyan had no clue what mommy was doing until I showed him the photo, but the poor guy has a beautiful face and looks pretty with the bow!  What makes this better is the show on behind him (which he made me change to Phineas and Ferb) and the plant behind him that lines up perfectly with his hair and appears as though his hair is even longer and girlier!

Disney Recap Part 1...well kinda!

So because I have like 6 days to recap so I can look back and reflect and so you can see how awesome our vacation was, I am going to do this in 2 parts with pictures from our actual camera that are not so blurry.  This took me forever because not only has Miss Emberlynn and Eyan decided they both need a lot more attention but PicMonkey kicked my butt.

Collage 1: Character Breakfast!
Seriously this was the one thing we did that set the entire tone for our vacation.  Sure Eyan loved the plane ride and Downtown Disney, but meeting his favorite characters was exactly the way to start our Disney vacation.  When you go in for breakfast they take you straight to Mickey for your meet and greet.  Eyan was wide eyed and so excited. He high-fived Mickey, told him how old he was and hugged him.  Eyan sort of was frustrated that Mickey was not talking back to him, but he got over it.   All the characters LOVED on Emberlynn.  They tended to stay around our table a bit more then others and just gawk at her adorableness.  My favorite moment however was when Stitch from Lilo and Stitch came over and Eyan got scared...Stitches reaction was priceless.  They became friends shortly after.

Collage 2: Disneyland Day 1
I tried to get a photo of the kids in their cute outfits each day, however, some days they just were not having it.  Getting into the park that morning was relatively slow, apparently they have to take your photo for your ticket so they are non-transferable and that is a new process and they use iPhones for it so it was a slight pain.  Once inside though we did the typical photos in front of the Disneyland gate and then headed straight down main street to Tomorrowland to meet my grandparents!  This was the first time they would be meeting Emberlynn and my grandpa is such a kid my grandma could not tell him they were going until the night before they left because "he would drive her crazy".  They were a true blessing on this trip as my grandma is not a huge ride fan and she is a fantastic baby snuggler so Emberlynn always had shade and fully attention.  My grandpa was able to get a mobility pass for our group so we did not always have to wait in huge lines with the tiny bossy infant girl and the wiggly impatient 3 yr old which made this trip SO much easier.  Our first ride was the Buzz Lightyear AstroBlasters ride and Eyan LOVED it.  He told us that he killed Zurg and was elated about it.  We spent a lot of our day in Tomorrowland but we did hit up Fronteirland, and New Orleans too!  While heading to the riverboat ride there were a group of ducklings and I just had to snap a photo...later on that evening while heading to the parade the ducks were on main street being guided by a cast member and I was walking back from the ice cream shop.  The castmember stopped me and the little duckies walked right across my feet...SO CUTE!  We ended the day with the parade which was cool, but many of the characters Eyan knew were not in the parade.  Pluto did pick Eyan out and gave him "knuckles" which Eyan was happy with.

Collage 3: Disney's California Adventure Day 2
This was one of those days where the kiddos were not going to sit nicely together for a photo.  It was chilly that day and the day before was quite long, so of course it was a rough start to the morning.  We were totally unorganized this day and truly it was a bit of a mess.  I really wanted to spend the day in Cars Land with Eyan, but we got into the park late, the wait time for the rides in Cars Land was insane and on top of that Eyan decided to take a nap for a good 2 hours.  So instead we headed to Paradise Pier where we quickly found out most of what is on the pier, Eyan is too small to ride, but we did get on Toy Story Mania which is a 3D ride where you play a bunch of Toy Story virtual carnival type games...I totally won with 94,000 points!  We enjoyed just hanging out around the bay, watching the water show (which paled in comparison to World of Color) and eating ice cream. We also caught the Pixar Parade which was MUCH more interesting for Eyan and was the official spotting of Buzz and Woody.  It was a bit of a bummer to find out that they do not have meet and greets with the Toy Story characters anymore...which I suspect is because of the whole "Andy's Coming" photo floating around the internet.  We ended our day with a nice dinner at Storytellers and then headed to Condor Flats where the adults rode Soarin and Eyan and I did some shopping and picture taking with planes!  Day 2 was a bit of a bust, but hey, one rough day isn't too bad.

Stay tuned for Part 2!

WW: Babies EVERYWHERE!

Ok maybe not "Wordless" but GAH can you just eat up the cuteness in these photos.  We got together for my cousins 3rd birthday and the babies all had a play date too.  Now we just wait for baby #5 to join us in about a week!

The babies just chillin.  My little cousin holding Emberlynns hand just about kills my uterus.

I die!

Remember those tiny little twinsy boys I posted months back...yeah they are growing and even more beautiful!

{SCENTSY} Giveaway

I AM SO EXCITED to do this giveaway!

Scentsy is a fantastic company that specializes in "safe, wickless alternatives to scented candles."  They offer a great variety of warmers to fit any decor or style and the scents are delicious!

A few years ago I was gifted a teacher themed warmer.  At first I didn't even use it (truthfully I had no idea what Scentsy was or how the darn thing worked).  Then one day I plugged it in and put a wax cube in and fell in love!  The aroma was wonderful; strong but not overwhelming.  From then on I was hooked and now I have a couple warmers and probably 20 different scents that I am constantly using.  I use my Scentsy warmers EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!

One thing that I love about this is that unlike a candle, it wont burn my house down if I leave it "burning" too long.  I have my scentsy warmers on probably 8 hours a day and will leave my house for an hour here and there with them on without worry.  Also the wax is never too hot, so if my kids spill it they will not get burned.

A great friend of mine is a Scentsy consultant and has offered one of my lucky readers one of the two warmers shown below just for entering the rafflecopter giveaway below!   Not only is she offering a free warmer but she is also offering 20% off your first order via email. Also if you book a party with her this summer she will offer double hostess rewards!

Ohana.
