DIY Bath Crayons

Sharing is caring!

Have I told you how much I love Influenster and the goodies they send me!  I received the #TLCVoxBox about a week ago and literally the items inside are awesome.  One item in particular was perfect for a craft I was wanting to try.
Bath Crayons that are easy, cheap and safe for babies skin are exactly that craft!

These were entirely too easy to make.  Like literally took all of 10 minutes!

Step By Step:

  1. Gather supplies:  The ones pictured above are my essentials and I added a few extra cups if you want to do multiple colors out of one bar.
  2. Grate the soap:  Using the smallest grating option on your cheese grater, go to town.  I place a plate under mine to catch, not necessary but makes for easy clean up.
  3. Mix: Place the soap shavings into your mixing container (mine is a measuring cup) and slowly add water.  Mix by hand until you have a nice thick paste.  I could have mixed a lot more, but I just didn’t.

4. Color:  You can choose to do different colors or just do all one.  I wanted to see how far a 1/2 bar would go so I just did several colors.  I  put about 3 drops of food coloring into each of the containers and mixed them well.
5. Form:  I just made mine into basically crayon turds for easy gripping for the tiny peanut, but these can easily be pressed into any mold to make them even prettier!
6. Let Dry: Place your crayons on a piece of wax paper and then allow to dry.  I put mine in the freezer for about 10 minutes and then let them sit out for about 10 more minutes before we used them.
HAVE FUN…Eyan sure did, and the clean up was pretty freaking awesome!  I will say these pictures do not show the color as well as it was on the bath tub, the blue was VERY bright!

I also got all these goodies from Influenster in my #TLCVoxBox!

I love this idea. I showed my son a bar of soap for the first time this year and he asked me what it was. I didn't realize that we had become so far removed from it with using bath gels and all.

Love this idea! And to think, I was just going to use my bar of soap to take a shower with. ;0)

Did you just use gel food coloring or liquid?
