Swimming Lessons

Sharing is caring!

When our oldest was three we did swimming lessons at the pool that is right down the street from our house.  He almost drowned because the instructor lacked proper skills to work with small children.  I can make that judgement, I am trained to work with kids and she most definitely did not have very good skills at giving clear directions.

We stayed clear from swimming lessons last year, and I did a bit of teaching him.  He did pretty good, but got somewhat frustrated because I am mom and I am supposed to save him and he knows that I am a sucker for his pouty face.  This year however, I decided to try a different place for swimming lessons.  I knew that I wanted both kids to take them because we are in and around water constantly.  It is our go to fun and is relatively inexpensive.

My son is in a preschool class and my daughter and I do the “mommy & me” class.  What is great is that we have our friends in the class with us so it is really fun.  Today we finished our first week and it went fantastic.

My son is easing out of his fear and today the instructor told me that he is far exceeding her expectations and should have no problem moving into the next class level!

This one absolutely LOVES the water and is difficult to get her out of it.

He listens so ver well to his teacher and I am so proud of him.
This one…never listens but she is trying and learning too
He is even getting really comfortable going under water.  After a near drowning episode, that is critical
And when we have to leave, this is the pouty face that I now get to answer too.  Lawd help me!
Have you done swimming lessons?  How did they go?
