Our Family Day out at Colorado Ballet presents THE NUTCRACKER

Disclosure: We were provided with some free tickets for the presentation, however, we purchased several others and would have done so regardless.  It was a privilege to attend and all opinions are honest and my own.

Holiday traditions are so important for my family.  Sunday we had the honor of attending the 55th annual Colorado Ballet production of The Nutcracker presented by KeyBank.  It is a family tradition that goes back but this year we took the kids!

The Nutcracker is the story of a young girls toy Nutcracker present coming to life and taking her on a magical journey through a beautiful world of wintertime magic and delicious sweets.  The performance is told by fantastic dancers with brilliant costumes and dazzling choreography and beautiful dancers.

That picture above was our seats.  Literally amazing seats.  Although looking around there was not a bad seat in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.  Prior to making our way into the ballet, we got dressed up.  My kids were not big on taking pictures so the best we got was this one.

Seriously though, even with awkward angles and weird smiles they still look so very nice!  Loved their outfits.  Both of them were very excited to go to the ballet.  We had explained to them what The Nutcracker was and even our Elves on the Shelf were in on the fun!  We were ready!

The drive down and even parking was very easy.  Parking was $12.00 for the evening which I felt was extremely reasonable and it was not stressful at all.  There were a ton of spots open and not much walking to be had.  Getting into the Ellie Caulkins Opera House was also a very relaxed feeling.  So relaxed in fact that our little princess fell asleep and slept through ALL of Act 1.  We took a couple photos and readied ourself for the show.

Oh my WOW!  That was my reaction.  The dancers were stunning.  Their technique was on "point" and I could not take my eyes off of the stage.  My son was extremely interested as well.  He really enjoyed the leaps and turns.  When Act 1 ended my son was so excited he accidentally woke the sleeping princess to tell her about the magic and fights and jumping people!

Intermission was very nice and calm as well even with a full house.  The bathroom lines went quickly as well as the snack area.  There was also a professional photographer on hand with a beautiful set up and a barbershop quartet singing carols.  It was actually a great little time.

Act 2 did not disappoint and by the end of the show my husband, brother-in-law and sister were all raving about how fun the show was and the beauty of it.  What we really liked was that there was some humor in this presentation of The Nutcracker.  At one point their was the Macarena dance and the audience was roaring with laughter.  Such a phenomenal show.

I cannot wait to go back next year.  If you are interested in catching a presentation of The Nutcracker, the show runs through December 27, 2015 with The Colorado Ballet Live Orchestra.  There are day and evening shows. We attended an evening show and even on a school night we were home and in bed by 9:00 pm and that includes nearly a 40 minute drive home.  You can purchase tickets here and they are very reasonable.  Prices range from $30.00 to $155.00 and honestly are worth every single penny.

If you would like to check out the Colorado Ballet please be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and their Website.
