As a mom of two who survived the postpartum phase there are so many aspects of postpartum experience that are just not discussed. You have this new baby and for the months leading up to the birth everything was about you. How are you feeling? When are you due? Are you doing this or that? Then you give birth and everything is about this amazing life and as a mom, you wouldn’t have it any other way. However, the postpartum phase needs cared for as well, so I decided to create the postpartum care basket for a special soon-to-be mommy I know.
The biggest adjustment in postpartum care is caring for yourself while caring for a new baby. The schedule is hard and you are learning so much about this new little life and your limits as a mom. You forget to eat, sleep can be non-existent and your body is doing some crazy stuff trying to get back to “normal”.
To put together the postpartum care package I decided to head to my local Kroger and grab some essentials for a new mom-to-be. On my list:
We all know that a new mom is always busy with the newborn and sometimes they just need to freshen up and feel good. Other items to include could be some gift cards for their favorite places, stylish lounge clothes, meal gift certificates or pre-made frozen slow cooker meals. I went with the necessities that I wish I would have had right on hand.
I grabbed a stylish basket at the store as well as some tissue paper and went to work. First I lined the basket with a couple layers of tissue paper.
Next I carefully placed all of the postpartum items in the basket from biggest in the back to smallest in the front, making sure that all of the were visible. I placed a heartfelt card in the back of the basket and am so ready to give this to my friend in a month when her beautiful baby boy arrives! I know that she will value and love it.
