Changing Seasons #Colorado #Aspens #GuanellaPass

Last weekend we decided to take a family day trip up the pass to check out the stunning aspen trees changing colors.  Fall in Colorado is hard to match and you cannot beat a beautiful afternoon spent with family, taking in our state.
Of course we had to stop and snag some photos.  I am still learning my new lens on my camera, but I was very happy with how these turned out.  The colors were just perfect.  There were mainly yellows, but we would see patches of oranges and reds that just took your breath away for a second.

This might be my most favorite photo of my husband and the kids right now.  We almost never get the tiny girl to focus and smile and it was close to lunch time so she was in hangry mode.

Case in point.  She is not actually smiling in the photo above.  She is squirming to get away from me because she NEEDED pizza.

This boy of mine though.  He was all for taking some photos and showing off that missing front tooth!  You guys, this sweet boy is growing up so quickly but such a mama’s boy.  I feel pretty special to be his mama.

Oh you noticed the matching outfits.  Initially I had her in a completely different outfit and I had the outfit you see me in.  That just was not working for her, so she ran to her room and found this outfit that looks pretty close to mine.  Then of course she needed her hair curled and boots.  I am not going to lie, I totally love that she wanted to dress like her mama.

My sister decided she wanted to share the day with us and get my sweet nugget nephew up to the mountains for his first aspen changing trip.  He was not super impressed with how bright it was (it was actually very warm btw), but he did actually like being up in the mountains and was such a sweet little guy for the entire trip.

We tried to get the kids to take some photos together and well…this is about as good as it gets.  Still cute, the scenery is still stunning and those kids are still sweet as sugar!
We ended our day by stopping in Idaho Springs for pizza at Beau Jo’s and although I forgot my camera, the food was great, we were stuffed and the family had a great time!
If you are in Colorado you must make a point to visit at the end of September and catch the changing of the leaves.  There are so many amazing places to check out the leaves and the photo opportunities are fantastic.
