My kids had been not so patiently waiting for Moana and we had marked it on the calendar and daily the kids would ask about it. So when Wednesday came, they were more than ready to enjoy this movie.
First of the short at the beginning of the movie is amazing. I believe it is called Inner Workings and it was funny and awesome. It has to do with human anatomy and emotions and life and truly was awesome. I want to show it to my students when it hits theaters and we start discussing anatomy. Make sure you are in the theater for this awesome short! I loved it.

Moana is a beautiful story of a young island princess who is drawn to the ocean and journey's on an adventure to save her people and the island that she loves.
Accompanied by some super amazing animal buddies, you find a lot of laughs within this movie. I think I spent a large majority of this movie giggling at the silliness of the chicken and pig. They were a fantastic addition to a beautiful story.
What I loved most was how empowering this story was to people everywhere. It combined a girl (Moana) who pushes the limits but is afraid with a strong male character (Demi God Maui) who just wants to be accepted. Together they overcome challenges and bring amazing change. I nearly cried at the end of the movie because it gave me all the feels!
I would have to say that my absolute favorite part of the movie was the music. It was not overly musical, but just the right amount. I have been streaming the songs online since Wednesday and it just brings happiness and has pushed me thorough this last week of work before we go on break! You can check out some of the songs and inspiration behind the film below.
I urge everyone to grab tickets soon and get to the theaters on November 23rd. You will love it and I know that we will be getting back in the theater to see it again.
Are you going to see Moana in theater?
